“The people are extraordinarily nice here, and they do genuinely try to do the right thing by coworkers and clients alike.”

Horacio Balseiro is a Support Engineer in Learnosity’s New York office. He appreciates the finer things in life – good wines, art museums, Ancient Rome … and climbing stairs.

What do you do at Learnosity?

I’m an Application Support Engineer. What that basically means is I get to help clients through issues via email, tickets, and calls.

How did you get into that area?

I knew someone who worked at the company and it seemed like a truly nice place to work (it is, by the way). At the time I was looking for a change and it seemed like a good one to make. I always somehow ended up swinging back and forth between doing technical things and dealing with people – both of which I generally enjoy. So the job ended up having a nice mixture of both.

The longer you spend at the company, the more you realize that there are lots of products that interconnect and the architecture is far more complex than you initially thought.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge at Learnosity to date?

When you first start out at Learnosity, you realize you don’t intimately know the product yet but it seems “knowable”; it doesn’t immediately strike you as hugely expansive. But the longer you spend at the company, the more you realize that there are lots of products that interconnect and the architecture is far more complex than you initially thought. I still find out about facets of what we offer that I wasn’t aware of. It’s kind of a good problem to have. It’s always a pleasant surprise to learn there’s even more to what we offer.

What work project are you most proud of and why?

The support department isn’t always project-focused, so rather than a project I’d say what I’m most proud of is the feedback we get from clients, who seem to be genuinely satisfied by our service. There are hiccups and areas that need to be improved at times, but the bulk of the comments we get are very positive. When we do run into those areas that need improvement the company is extremely receptive to hearing about them and, whenever possible, to take action.

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Learnosity – I sincerely think clients get great value for their money.”

If I knew someone looking for services like the ones we offer I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Learnosity – not just because it’s nice when new clients provide funding to the company that signs your paycheck, but because I sincerely think they get great value for their money.

In your opinion, what makes working at Learnosity different?

The people are extraordinarily nice here, and they do genuinely try to do the right thing by coworkers and clients alike.

What do you do to relax in your spare time?

Well, at the moment we’re still mid-pandemic lockdown so I mostly sit indoors. However, I have gotten back into daily workouts, which I greatly enjoy. Under more normal circumstances, I enjoy just about anything music-related, I read a lot about Ancient Rome (and I’m spreading out to other nearby civilizations), and I enjoy generally walking around the city aimlessly and organically stumbling across interesting things.
