Conor Walsh is a Support Engineer in Learnosity’s Dublin office, where he brings his sporting talents to the fore by ruling the roost on the in-house pool table 🎱.

What do you do at Learnosity?

I’m an Application Support Engineer. My team acts as the first point of contact for clients to help them through the technical integration of our APIs, resolve any issues they might run up against, and answer any questions they have.

How did you get into that area?

I’ve always been interested in technology, even from a very early age. After school, I got more into tech and studied software development in university. My role in Learnosity is both technical and client-facing, which really appeals to me. It’s a good mix of working with code and talking to clients. I really enjoy both aspects.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge at Learnosity to date?

The support team deals with clients on a daily basis and each of them is unique. The ways they want to integrate our APIs can vary greatly. I think our biggest challenge is understanding each client’s vision and helping them realize it.

What work project are you most proud of and why?

The first major project I worked on at Learnosity was an overhaul of our Demos site. We wanted to make it easier for developers who were just starting out working with our APIs, so we redesigned and reorganized the site, added a ton of useful new demos, and made any existing demos easier to understand. It took a lot of planning and work to get it right, but the results were clear straight away because the number of queries we had to deal with went way down!

The people here make the difference. They’re extremely hardworking and knowledgeable about our product, but always friendly, approachable, and up for a laugh.

In your opinion, what makes working at Learnosity different?

I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but the people here make the difference. They’re extremely hardworking and knowledgeable about our product, but always friendly, approachable, and up for a laugh. From day one they helped me feel at ease and a valued part of the team.

What do you do to relax in your spare time?

I love playing or watching sports. My favourites are hurling and Gaelic football, which are Ireland’s two national games. When I’m not running around a pitch, I like to go hiking with my dog Reggie. To really wind-down, I enjoy heading out for a good pizza and pint with friends. Another thing I love doing is traveling to new places. We’d a company-wide hack-day a while back and my team created a website where people could share details with one another about their favorite travel spots. There were so many great suggestions and hidden nuggets. I hope to see a lot of them for myself someday!
