Product Management

“I think Learnosity has an amazing team. When I first joined the company, I remember being struck by how every single person I met emphasized that I could reach out any time if I had questions or needed help.”

Whether it’s digging into customer solutions or exploring the hiking trails near her home city of Toronto, Learnosity Product Manager Monet Slinowsky likes a good adventure.

What do you do at Learnosity?

I’m a Product Manager with a focus on the corporate, adult/vocational, and high stakes markets.

How did you get into that area?

After getting my bachelor’s in computer engineering, I did a master’s in “Bioengineering Innovation & Design” at Johns Hopkins University, which gave me the opportunity to product manage two health-related products, refining solutions for a very broad problem into workable prototypes. After that, I worked in digital health before transitioning to edtech with Learnosity.

Working as a product manager really suits my personal interest and skill set because it gives me a chance to identify the most impactful problems users are facing and then collaborate with the wider team—engineers and designers—to solve those problems in a creative way.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge at Learnosity to date?

We underwent an organizational change in the summer of 2023 to support market-focused product managers. Prior to this, I was the product manager of our (very awesome) self service team. So I had to transition from being embedded in a team (we now have embedded product owners) to being more outward facing. But the great thing is I get to be much closer to our clients!

It was challenging to become familiar with the new markets, but between tons of desk research and many conversations with our internal business development team and clients, I’ve really enjoyed getting stuck into the space. I’m excited about continuing to find ways that help our products even better serve the corporate, vocational, and high stakes markets.

What work project are you most proud of and why?

Learnosity releases features regularly, with major releases three times a year, and I’m always most excited for what’s coming up in the next release to see how our team’s hard work translates to benefits for learners and educators through our clients. I’m our adaptive product SME and am very proud of the work ongoing in that area! Additionally, work on AI-focused features and improving the Learnosity experience for our client’s teams (client authors and developers via our self service tools).

In your opinion, what makes working at Learnosity different?

I think Learnosity has an amazing team. When I first joined the company, I remember being struck by how every single person I met emphasized that I could reach out any time if I had questions or needed help. It’s very collaborative and everyone does their best to support each other. As one of our company values puts it, “Success is better shared”! 😊

What do you do to relax in your spare time?

I love to read and do some creative writing. I’m also very into trying different fitness activities, whether it’s skiing, hiking, aerial hammocks, Budokon yoga, rock climbing—anything that’s challenging but fun at the same time!

Hiking a volcano outside of Antigua, Guatemala.
Practicing some aerial yoga at home.
Climbing the Sugarloaf Mountain, Brazil.
And enjoying the view from a giant swing in north-east Brazil.
