This demo shows Feedback Aide’s ability to apply a Short Response – X from Y rubric, which awards credit based on how many valid points from a broader list are included in a student’s answer. Here you’ll evaluate and provide feedback on a student’s short response that assesses students’ ability to construct a science-based argument supported by examples and evidence. The scorer selects key factors— in this example, pollution or invasive species—and the AI instantly generates personalized feedback. It’s a powerful way to streamline scoring and ensure consistent formative feedback to content-heavy responses. Responses 1, 2, and 3 show varying degrees of mastery, as can be seen by the feedback.

How to use this demo

1. Start by choosing a response and then clicking 'Generate Feedback'.
2. Feedback Aide now scores the response: Review both the rubric and the 'Feedback to learner' to see the evaluation and suggestions for improvement.
3. The human grader has final say. Interact with the rubric to adjust scores and edit the feedback to the learner as needed.

What is a Short Response–X from Y?

This rubric type awards credit based on how many correct ideas (X) learners identify from a larger set of valid responses (Y). It’s a flexible format for tasks that ask students to list or explain several key points, ensuring scoring reflects both accuracy and coverage.
