What do you do at Learnosity?
I’m an Application Support Engineer. I deal with any and all requests coming in to the Support Team. It can be guiding developers towards the best way to achieve their goal, helping out with a bit of code, or taking notes of new features ideas and communicating it back internally.
How did you get into that area?
I studied business and IT, and then had a several very different work experiences that led me to the realization that I love IT, solving issues, helping people, and I want to wake up every morning to do something that matters. Education matters. For me, it’s one of the most – if not the most – important things we can do for future generations.
What would you say has been your biggest challenge at Learnosity to date?
The first thing that comes to my mind is when I first joined and there was so much to discover. I focused on learning as much as I could, as fast as possible, about our APIs, and became pretty knowledgeable quite quickly. But, for us, facing and overcoming challenges is just second nature. There’s always something new to learn, and we’re always working on improving on what we deliver.
What work project are you most proud of and why?
I felt extremely proud when I added my first improvements to our docs and tutorials. It was in the first months of me joining the team, and it was the moment when I thought “OK, I got this, and I’m gonna do great things here!”
For us, facing and overcoming challenges is just second nature. There’s always something new to learn, and we’re always working on improving on what we deliver.
In your opinion, what makes working at Learnosity different?
First of all, the team! We’re a bunch of happy geeks, there’s a lot going on, and there’s so much knowledge in all of our brains! Also, we never get bored. Between our own ideas and those of our clients, there’s always new things for us to learn and work on.
What do you do to relax in your spare time?
I play club rugby with a team that includes several Irish internationals, so I get to practice with them regularly, which is awesome. I also like to go climbing and cycling. When the weather isn’t too bad, I go hiking and camping in the wild. I live for those sun-rising-over-the-sea moments.
